Our new home has a greenhouse window like this in our kitchen. Our kitchen is done in a garden theme - it looks JUST like a Beatrix Potter book, actually! Everything is spring green and cream with just a bit of deep red. There's green & cream gingham wallpaper, a border around the ceiling with radishes and lettuces and a bit of watering can wallpaper on one wall.
Very cute and I like it, but I'm not sure what to do with the window. I had a light lace valance in the window, but even lace blocks a percentage of the light, and I want as much light as possible.
However, it looks very naked with nothing at all. 
I think some sort of garden-themed novelty topper which doesn't block light would be prettiest, and I hoped some of you clever decorators would offer some ideas, pretty please?

We have "swags" over some of our windows. They are twiggy with little green apples in the bedroom and twiggy with red berries in the front room. Something like that on the wall above the window could dress it up without having a curtain. I like the twiggy ones better than artificial flowers because there is less dust and they look less artificial, imo.

How about painting a faux valance over the window? We have a huge window in our dining room and I am loathe to put any coverings on it for fear of blocking any of the fabulous light and I have been considering the faux valance idea. I have red and white polka dot valances for my other windows and I think that painting a replica over the other window would do the trick. Perhaps it would also work for you? HTH!

I was thinking twiggy also, or some ivy type thing...
We had one of those in our first house in the kitchen, lovely place for an herb garden! I miss it. (I kept it nekkid though! LOL!)

Is there a room for a shelf above the window that you could stack flower pots and a cute watering can on? Or could you hang a rope and clip cute gardening gloves to it with old fashioned clothes pins...or what about a wide brimmed sun hat?

Oh, what clever ideas!
Thank you - those are just the things I was looking for. I'm so glad I asked!
The twiggy swag sound very promising, would this be like a grapevine thing? I think I'm going to have to google for some pictures as I can't quite get it in my minds eye. I have seen ivy swags and if it's like that, we might just have a winner! Colleen's suggests are also very intriguing - I hadn't thought of using gardening accessories! They would be so perfect in my kitchen - it's quite unaccessorized at the moment. I have a big blank wall above my table just waiting for something like that!
Unfortunately, this particular window has a thick wood frame which is butted up against an overhanging bulkhead, so a painted valance wouldn't fit -- however, as soon as I read your suggestions, Betsie, I thought of my family room window! (At the moment it has a wallpaper border round it, but that's going to go in the nearish future.) That room has a bit of a Scandinavian feel and painted valance (in, say, a Swedish Country style) would be so unbelievably perfect! There is a good 18" above this big, picture window - loads of room!

Okay, I am trying to picture it...but is there some way you could hang a valance above the window opening, so that the top of the window trim is covered by the valance...? So it sort of makes it look as if the window is taller than it actually is? Just a thought...

I was at JoAnns today, and they had the cutest mini gardening tools. Itty bitty watering can, trowels, gloves, and such. You could hang them across the opening.
