Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I made my daughter a rag doll for Christmas and she really, really loves it. She especially loves to drag it around by the hair and this moment is loving pulling said hair out one. strand. at. a. time. Her brother is egging her on.

Anyway, I knew the hair wasn't that secure but I was on a time crunch. How does one attach doll hair? I'm using brown yarn and I made a "wig" by wrapping the yarn around a board book over a single strand of yarn. Then I tied the single strand tightly and all that yarn made itself into a nice doll-shaped hair piece. But then I just sort of randomly stitched down some pieces with thread. I had no idea what I was doing. I'd like to have the hair kind of wild and loose because that's what my daughter's hair is like and it just seems like more fun.

Please help if you have experience with this! The doll hair pile is growing . . .

Susan

When I made DD's doll hair, we had to make two parts.

Part one they called the 'coil' I think. It was really the bangs/fringe
This was the 2" wide, 12" long piece, wound over and over a 2" wide strip, then sewn down the middle.

I attached this around the head, crown style.

THEN we did the 10" long hair proper, sewn down the centere. I then attached this by sewing that seam to the centre of the head. THEN I attached it underneath to the coil I made before.

Does this make sense?
