I feel like all I do is come here with questions but I don't know where else to go for experienced "real life" answers and support!!

I'm at 30 weeks right now and baby is breech. She has been breech for quite a few weeks now. The dr. keeps mentioning a c-section. I don't want to schedule one unless absolutly necessary (and obviously if she doesn't turn then that's absolutly necessary!)

Does anyone know of any ways to "help" baby move into position? Or is it normal that she's not yet as there are potentially another 9 weeks or so left with her still cozy inside?

My dr. is getting really insisitent that we schedule a c-section soon (not to have it done soon but to have it "on the books" soon).

30 weeks is awfully early to be discussing a C-section. My midwife just delivered twins who were breech up until birth and they both spun around during delivery to be born head first.

I'll be praying for you!

Breech babes can turn during delivery - breech deliveries are not dangerous in and of themselves, it is the mishandling by caregivers that complicates breech vaginal deliveries. 30 weeks is super early. I've dealt w/breech and posterior babies many many times. Spinning babies has always helped.

at 28weeks incident of breech babies is around 25% and decreases to about 3-4% at term.

I had one baby that seemed to always be breech for appt. until we got to every week appt. and then we started finding her vertex as well.. since my midwife was teaching a trainee I learned how to tell as well.. she was flipping several times a day and it was just luck of the draw that she'd be breech at appts. And she turned vertex for birth.

AND many of the complications attributed to breech do not change with the method of delivery. Apparently they are just associated with the breech position, they are not caused from breech delivery. In other words, c-sections do not improve the outcomes compared to properly done vaginal breech deliveries.

The trick is finding anyone expereienced with breech delivery. That's what the research shows.. that breech vaginal delivery of full or frank breech is as safe vertex delivery with someone exerpienced in breech vaginal delivery

There are some out there.. I found in AZ that there was a doctor my midwife knew that would do a breech delivery in the hospital.. his condition was basically that you did so with an epidural so that a c-section could be done with no delay. Not the best situation but a whole lot better than an automatic c-section. My midwife there was experienced though not allowed to by AZ law.. she'd trained out of the country and learned to do breech then.

My current midwife (well current as the one that I'd call if needed) also knows how to deliever breech and has done so without any problems.

So if you really don't want a c-section.. You might start asking around for any docs/hospitals that allow breech vaginal delivery. It may not be needed.. but..

Thank you everyone! MaryM thank you so much for the links I found them very helpful. And thank you to everyone else for the encouragment about it being really early still to be talking about a c-section. That's what I've been thinking too! I'm going to hand it over to our Lady and stop thinking about it for now!
