Hello all,

My ds is about to turn 12, my oldest. It suddenly dawned on me that he's probably past the "children's chewable" vitamins phase. :-) He's very tall, just broke the 100 lb barrier, and not overweight at all. When do you start giving older children adult vitamins, and do they get an adult dose of them?

Thanks so much!

Hello,
I have to ask the question....can he swallow the adult
size tablets? I have a 16 dd that has a terrible gag
reflex when it comes to vitamins, so I up the chewables
(we use Shaklee) till it comes close
to the adult standards listed on the back of the bottles.(It works out to 3 chewables of Shaklee).
Then I have another daughter 13, who does swallow the vitamin tablets, and I started her out with only a 1/2
a adult dose, at 12 and now she is up to the full adult
dose. Don't know if this helps or hurts. Good luck.
There may be liquid vitamins(taste may be a issue)that
go by weight too.

Hi again,

I appreciate your help. Yes, he can swallow pills...well, now that I think about it, the stuff he's swallowed is about the size of an Advil, not like some horse sized vitamins (Like Vita Lea! LOL). Hmmmm...well, I guess I need to think about this some more.

I have been thinking about this, too and think I may suggest my 15yos take the adult chewables I use. I can't stomach big vitamin pills swallowed whole. You can check your local health food store for adult chewable..

hth!
