Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My children love the Jan Brett books. We have never studied them in a FIAR way though. This is my first year HS! I found lots of activities on her website.

However, I haven't seen her books discussed around here but I was wondering if anyone else enjoys her books and has used them for actual school work.

Thanks! Tracy

Hi Tracy! We're big Jan Brett fans here. Last year, we had a Jan Brett Christmas. Here is a list of all the other threads that mention Jan Brett books.

We love Jan Brett, too. We did a Christmas notebook following much of Elizabeth's plan (plus some of our own) and it turned out to be a very special time. Her bboks are beautiful. Have you seen her website? It has some great stuff.

Oh, we LOVE Jan Brett! Here's a neat teachers's page with curriculum ideas.

We met her once! About six years ago, we went to a book signing in Cambridge and had her sign Hedgie's Surprise for our boys. She was just lovely!

We've used her books at different times for studies. This year we will use several of them when we study Scandinavia.

Tracy,

She has some great "piggybacks" on her website. We also have some FIAR style Jan Brett units at HSS (www.homeschoolshare.com for the following:
Comet's Nine Lives
Berlioz the Bear
The Mitten
The Umbrella
The Gingerbread Baby
Armadillo Rodeo
Fritz and the Beautiful Horses

Hope that helps you out! :)
