Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi!

Can any of you recommend good OWL books you've come across? I'm thinking 6 - 9 year old range. Thanks!

p.s. Fiction or Non-fiction

We've really enjoyed reading Owl Moon.

My avatar indicates my owl fondness - here is the list of picture books we have enjoyed in addition to Owl Moon. Some are for younger age group than you mention.

The Owl And the Woodpecker -Brian Wildsmith
Good Luck Baby Owls - Giles Milton
White Owl, Barn Owl - Nicola Davies
Billywise - Judith Nicholls
The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark – Jill Tomlinson
The Barn Owls – Troy Johnson
Little Owl - Piers Harper
Owl Babies – Martin Waddell
The Owl Who Became the Moon - Jonathan London
Ookpik - Bruce Hiscock
Screech Owl at Midnight Hallow - C. Drew Lamm

These are the more non-fiction type picture books with good information.

The Barn Owl – Bert Kitchen
Owls – Gail Gibbons
The Book of North American Owls - Helen Slatter
All About Owls - Jim Arnosky

There are several fun picture book versions of the poem - "The Owl and the Pussycat" which would be fun to add.

Chapter books:
Owls in the Family - Farley Mowat
There's an Owl in the Shower - Jean Craighead George

I also highly recommend the book Owl Puke. Lots of good information and activities in that one. It comes with an owl pellet for dissection.

Here is an old thread with lots of owl resources, including book suggestions - HOOT and owls
