Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My daughter's book club has discussed several books this year, and the only ones she has liked have been humorous and engaging. (That would be two titles.) There are only two meetings left for the year. I'm looking for ideas for summer reading for her as well as some good suggestions for next year's reading list. She's just turned 12 and is in 7th grade.

Oh, and she doesn't like books with animals as the main characters - but perhaps there's a book out there that would change her mind?

First humorous book that comes to my mind is the Penderwick books. All of my children, boys and girls laughed their way through these and then promptly told their friends they mustread them.

The Soup and Me series.
A Year Down Yonder (and another by the same author, can't think of the name right now).
God bless,
