Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

A series on Catholic themes in Shakespeare's works will start in March on EWTN. The host was featured on EWTN Live this week with Fr. Pacwa. Preliminary times are Mondays at 11 a.m., Wed. 6 p.m., and Fridays, time I can't remember. Check the EWTN website in late February for details (times are EST).

Once before I heard this man on EWTN and he gave some good examples on how Shakespeare incorporated Catholic themes in his plays. I know very little about Shakespeare so I plan on recording these. The series will be called "Quest for Shakespeare."

I found it in March.

Thanks for the heads up. I hope I can get some tapes and remember to do it! If you google "Quest for Shakespeare" you find the author's blog and some other articles about him and his book. Sounds interesting!

There is a book written by Clare Asquith called Shadowplay.

http://www.amazon.com/Shadowplay-Beliefs-Politics-William-Sh akespeare/dp/1586483870/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid= 1236812270&sr=8-1

She talked about Shakespeare's Catholicism. I heard her interviewed either on EWTN or a Catholic radio show. I received the book for Christmas several years back and it was so interesting to read.

It sounds like this series might be along the same sort of lines. I will make sure that I am able to either watch or record them.

While I'm thinking of it, the next issue of Mater et Magistra is devoted to studying and enjoying Shakespeare.

In case anyone is interested...
