Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Our sets of Narnia, Redwall, LOTR, and Little House are in
tatters. That's just from the first 3 children. I will try to get fresh
new sets for the next 3 as they become readers.

Are we just really hard on books, or are others finding
themselves getting new copies of the good ones. At his rate I
will buying forth or fifth copies before it's all done.

Are library bound copies worth the extra price?

I think so, though I am the proud owner of five copies of Prince Caspian. When I can get library binding, I do.

I've started buying library bindings when I can, too. I think it's especially important with classics because I hear my children talk about sharing them with their children.

If we have an especially loved book in tatters I will buy it in hardcover or library binding if I can get it. I might also tell the grandparents/godparents that it would make a welcome gift for the next ocassion.

If the original book has glued binding, and the HC or library binding is sewn, then it is worth the price because it is much less likely to fall apart. You can usually tell because the sewn books have their pages attached in bunches and at the center of each bunch you can see a thread woven in and out.
