Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have my twin dds who will be receiving their Confirmation next year...

I have a few problems...is there any alternatives for receiving with a whole parcel of kids that may not even know why they are there or want to be there? I managed to get them out of the CCD classes..they want them to go on the retreat...I told them no and they said "Ok but bring them on some kind of retreat" And of course the hours and an interview must be done.

I hate the fact that there are so many people in our little church that only the parents and sponsor are allowed to be present. My dds are upset that their family cannot be there. Is this just something I have to just grin and bear or are there other alternatives available?

Abundant Blessings!

Wow, I hadn't thought about seat limitations. I'd better ask about our church...ds is being confirmed this spring and our church is small, too.

In our archdiocese there is no escape from the classes. Ds enjoys them but I have pretty much decided that he is not learning anything new. ("We're all agents of God" does not count.) We are also stuck with the retreat although ds does not want to go.

One thing ds has discovered is that he is better off learning at home (he knew this, actually...) because the other kids tell him all kinds of horror stories about our public high schools during class. Ack.

I had to come to terms with this whole thing because I knew it would be a waste of learning time for my son. I'm very glad he's meeting some Catholic teens, though...he has been lonely since we moved. I guess that's a benefit of sorts.

I remember from other discussions here that some dioceses are more flexible than others about the whole process. We just don't live in one. I hope you do!
