Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

First, my apologies if this is the wrong place to post this.

I know many people use FIAR to some extent or another with their little ones. I am always looking for ways to add Catholic elements into our studies in addition to any Bible verses we might read and discuss. I was hoping to glean some ideas from you all and perhaps compile a list I can refer to (and which I would, of course, post here).

To get us started, we are currently reading "The Little Red Lighthouse and the Great Gray Bridge", and there are two pictures of the lighthouse keeper holding a large bunch of keys. I am going to find a picture of St. Peter holding the Keys to the Church, and will probably try and rustle up some sort of CGS-type presentation to go with this (the girls just love it when the lesson comes out of "the box").

When we rowed "Miss Rumphius" we noticed that it was dedicated to St. Nicholas, so we added a section on St. Nicholas to our lapbook.

Any other ideas for adding saint studies or Catholic topics into these books?

Thanks ladies (and gents).

I just posted on the Angelo thread some ideas for adding the Catholic faith to that FAIR book.

I think this is a great idea for a thread topic. I'm glad you posted the question. I'm looking forward to people's ideas.

Sorry, we haven't read any of the above books but I'm here to glean suggestions for The Story of Ping as well. I can't find my copy of the book right now , but from what I remember from the last "row-around" Ping disobeys and/or is late; what about the virtue of obedience with a saint tie in; or????

Have you tried this:

A yahoo group for Catholic FIAR

Haven't looked at it myself, but it may be worthwhile checking out.
