Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

God willing, I will finally be getting my 3 year old baptized within the next few months. It's been on my list since she was born, but with me struggling with an auto-immune disease I have been far to ill to fulfill the diocese requirements of classes and such.

I've actually not been to a child's baptism in the Church - I'm a convert. Can someone give me an idea for proper attire for her to wear for her baptism? She's a very tall 3 year old who wears mostly Size 4 in children's wear in order to be modest for length.

Any pretty dress would be fine. White would be best but it doesn't have to be white since your parish probably provides a white stole. Easter clothes are on sale so it shouldn't be too hard to find something.

How exciting for your family!

A stole might be a bit difficult for a preschooler.. there's a link in the First Holy Communion Attire - girls for an apron that might make a lovely "white garment" and could be put over any nice dress.

You may also find a flower girl dress which could be appropriate.   David's Bridal has great prices, or even looking online.   But I agree that any pretty dress would be lovely.

You might check eBay, too - when my friends had all of their daughters make their First Communions together, they found five lovely white dresses - all different - on eBay for reasonable prices.

I had my 6 year old daughter, 5, 3, 2 year old sons and 6 month old daughter baptized last June. The girls wore simple white cotton dresses made from eyelet and the boys wore white button down shirts with light kakhi pants. It seemed very appropriate. Congrats to your family! Stacy
