Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

See original thread.
Sticky post with all the planning threads.

Put all of your Lent ideas and links in this thread. Obviously there will be some overlap with Holy Week, which we do have a FAQ page for.

Some great resources from the old Treasure Box of Fun & Fact comic books series (which has been uploaded and archived at Catholic U. archives). Click on the images to the right in the links and you'll get large images of the pages.

Oh, and they also have one called "Alleluia! Eastertide Calendar for Children" too. We got it last year and really had a good time doing it.

Emmanuel Books carries this one also.

I also want to buy the egg wraps that look like the pysanky ukrainian eggs. I assure you it is the only way I will ever come close the the patience required for that project. I plan to get one of each of the selections

There is a book called Cooking by the Cross at Emmanuel books, does anyone have it - can you give a review?

Hi Everyone!

I am hosting a "Lent Link-Up" today on my blog for everyone to link their Lenten ideas, and the turn out so far is much better than I had anticipated! People have been linking up some really cool posts!

Check it out here!

And if any of you have Lenten blog posts, come and link those too so we can find them all in one place! Loving all the lent ideas, ladies!

Lacy! I was just working on another post based on some blog ideas I found on your link-up. It's great. So many of those link ups are members here or have worked their home traditions from ideas posted here over the last 5 years. Such talent and creativity! Anyway, I'll be posting soon with my idea.

Again - thanks Lacy for what you do to bring ideas together.

I keep meaning to add these books. I love reading about the history of the Liturgy, cultural traditions and customs related to the Liturgical year.

My favorite sources are by Father Francis X. Weiser, S. J.:
Handbook of Christian Feasts and Customs
The Easter Book
The Holyday Book
The Christmas Book
The Year of Our Lord in the Christian Home (or Religious Customs in the Family)

A wonderful secular author is Dorothy Gladys Spicer who wrote several cookbooks and also books on Festivals and customs from other countries.

These are mostly out of print, written in the 50s and 60s.

A more "recent" secular book printed specific to Lent and Easter was printed in 1971 I found recently and really like is Easter the World Over by Priscilla Sawyer Lord and Daniel J. Foley. This book is chock full of Lent, Holy Week, and Easter customs from all over the world, including recipes and black and white photographs. It is really quite well-done.
