Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi Ladies,
I have a question about praying *just* a decade of the Rosary...
Do you start with The Apostles Creed, pray one decade, and end with the Hail, Holy Queen?

Thank you!!

What I've done is to do the Rosary over the week. So, yes we start with the Creed, one Our Father, 3 Hail Mary's, etc. Move on to the first Mystery and intentions. Then do the decade. I end with Fatima Prayer and Glory Be. The next day we do the next Mystery. I use a floor Rosarythat is so nice. We take turns putting the decade out. I also got Rosary Picturesfrom another mom and we use those during our Rosary. Hope that helps!

We usually say the beginning prayers on Sunday night (Apostles Creed, Our Father, three Hail Marys, Glory Be). On Monday we say the first mystery, Our Father, 10 Hail Marys, Glory Be and the Fatima prayer. Tuesday - Friday are the same with the rest of the mysteries. Saturday we say the closing prayers (Hail Holy Queen and all of the other prayers that we say after the rosary). This way, we accomplish a whole rosary in one week. My kids have been using their tenners instead of a full rosary so that they wouldn't get confused but I think I am going to encourage them to use the full rosary so that they see the whole prayer being accomplished slowly over the course of the week.

Well, we just starting doing this (regularly ) and we've been saying all the beginning and ending prayers each time. Is there a right and a wrong to this, or is it just preference?

We vary it depending on time and child's level of participaton. Sometimes we just start with the mystery, say the decade, Fatima prayer and then end. Or we'll do the whole beginning and ending prayers.

Just all depends. Sometimes our oldest requests the whole shebang, so we do it.

I don't think there's a right and wrong way.

Is the Fatima prayer a newer innovation, like the Luminous Mysteries? I really don't remember that being part of the Rosary when I was in school.

Very relevant question, as I plan to start saying a decade of the Rosary each weekday on Monday. My oldest has to learn the "Hail, Mary" and "Glory Be" before she's allowed to be baptized. Since she learned the "Our Father" from listening to her dad practice for his RCIA class, I figured the repetition would be a good teacher. I also plan to use some coloring pages from the Coloring Saints website. I haven't decide about doing the opening prayers, though.

I always remember saying it. I think the Blue Army was vogue when I was growing up. EWTN also uses that prayer after the decades.

"O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of Thy mercy."

During the month of November we pray the Eternal Rest between decades (sometimes both prayers).

Other people also add a little singing with the Lourdes "Ave, Ave, Ave Maria, Ave, Ave, Ave Maria.

Another variation my mother suggested was singing the Glory Be in Latin, Gloria Patri.

We are using this tablet right now, and we LOVE it. The kids see the whole rosary, but can color just the beads we are saying that day, and/or draw the mystery we are meditating upon.

Michelle,
Thank you so much for sharing that link! That would be perfect for my littlest one who gets tired of holding his tenner after awhile (like 2 prayers ).
