Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Anne -- we really like the Navarre around here. The explanations are clean and clear. I've not used the Ignatius, though.

I did one of the Ignatius Press bible studies written by Scott Hahn. I did one on some of the letters of Paul It was really good. Not only was the theology part excellent but the personal application questions were very challenging and thought provoking.

We have the 4 gospel books from Ignatius. I prefer these for 2 reasons:

**they will lie flat easier.
**the font, design and layout is more pleasing to the eye and more user-friendly. Certain things are always bolded, italicized, or in parentheses, or in a smaller or larger font. The Navarre explanations all flowed together for me. The Ignatius ones are more "study-able", if that were a word .

I've used both, and the content is great and extremely helpful in both, as far as I'm concerned, but, of course, I'm no biblical scholar....

I frequently use both Navarre and Ignatius to develop Bible studies for our parish. Each one has a different emphasis, so which one you choose depends on what you hope to get out of it. Ignatius has much more extensive historical notes as well as in-depth topical studies. It also has more references to the Catechism. Navarre is more inspirational, with quotes from the Fathers, theological insights, and more commentary that lends itself to meditation. Either one is orthodox, and, if you are wanting to do a serious study, I would suggest getting both of them. If you are new to studying the Bible, you'll get more information from the Ignatius. If you are familiar with the Bible already and have some background knowledge, you might prefer Navarre.
