Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I never knew this is/was a feast day. I always celebrated the Visitation on 5/31. I read about July 2 today in the book "The Secret of Mary Explained to Children".

Does anyone celebrate the Visitation on July 2? Did this day get moved in later years? I am assuming so since my calendar never has listed anything for July 2.

Thanks!

Mb

Hi Marybeth,
I went and looked at my calendar that has both Novus Ordo and Tridentine feast days and found that the Novus Ordo calendar celebrates the Visitation on May 31; however, pre-Vatican II it was celebrated on July 2. So it must be one of the many feast days that were moved.

God's blessings,
Diane

May 31 is usually the feast of the Visitation in our current General Roman Calendar. Unfortunately, this year that is Pentecost Sunday, so the feast gets bumped. I don't think it is moved to another day this year.

Thanks for the help! I didn't even think to put it in the Life in the Domestic Church section. Sorry!!
I became curious about the date because July 2 is ds' birthday and didn't want to be ignoring Our Lady who answered my prayers for him!
I had always celebrated the Visitation on May 31st. I appreciate the answers.

God bless,

Mb
