Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am compiling prayers for the family and/or to the Holy Family.
I would love to know your favorite prayers for the family as a whole or for mothers, fathers, children separately. Do you have a favorite prayer to the Holy Family?

Thank you!

Jen, I'm moving this to Life in the Domestic Church in hopes that you'll get more responses.

I have many favorites from a prayer book very dear to me done by the Archconfraternity of Christian Mothers - Mother Love. This prayer book is a treasure. There are more prayers in there than I would have time to list, but I thought I'd mention it. I know it doesn't help you right now, but maybe for the future.

Here's one of my favorites:

A Wife's Prayer

Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son, And Holy Spirit, You instituted marriage in the earthly Paradise and in the New Law You elevated it to the dignity of a sacrament, attaching to it many graces. Grant to my husband and me the grace to live holily in so sacred a state and, by the practice of Christian virtues, to act always as is becoming a Christian couple. As Your minister joined our hands at the holy altar, so may we journey through life with one heart and soul, tasting its pleasures with moderation, enduring its sorrows with resignation, and at all times, mutually assisting and consoling each other.

May Your true and holy fear strengthen us to serve You uprightly with pure heart and eyes and lips, in mutual esteem and forbearance! Grant that the children born of our union may be pure of heart and well-disposed in mind, and that they may gladly walk in the way of Your Commandments. Teach us to be faithful images of the Holy Family of Nazareth, of the blessed foster-father Joseph, of the most devout Mother Mary, the most blessed Mother of the Child Jesus, that we may be made worthy to live under their protection, to die in their favor, and to be forever blessed in their company. Amen.

Here's one we pray as a family everyday since we consecrated ourselves to the Sacred Heart of Jesus several years ago.

Dear Sacred Heart of Jesus, we renew our pledge of love and loyalty to you.
Keep us always close to your loving heart and to the most pure heart of your Mother.
May we love one another more and more each day, forgiving each other's faults as you forgive us our sins.
Teach us to see you in the members of our family, and to those we meet outside our home, loving them as you love them, especially the poor and the oppressed, that we may be instrumental in bringing about justice and peace.
Please help us to carry our cross daily out of love for you, and to strengthen this love by frequent Mass and Communion.
Thank you, dear Jesus, King and friend of our family, for all the blessings of this day.
Protect us and all families during this night, and help us so to live that we may all get to heaven.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.
St. Joseph, protector of the Christian, pray for us.
Our guardian angels and patron saints, pray for us.

Thank you both!

(I'm going to get that book too, Jennifer. Like you said, it won't help me this time, but your recommendation sold me!)

This is what I grew up praying every night after the rosary. I love this prayer, and was going to post it, too! I hope to get my own family to say it nightly, too.

I[ was going to add something that isn't exactly a daily prayer, but it's a focus for our family. Every year we have the Epiphany house blessing, and I just loved the words of the main blessings:

Quote:
Let us pray. O Lord, Almighty God, bless this house + that it may become a shelter of health, chastity, self-conquest, humility, goodness, mildness, obedience to the commandments, and thanksgiving to God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Upon this house and those who dwell herein may Your blessing remain forever, through Christ our Lord.

Many of these virtues we ask in the blessing are the virtues opposed to the Seven Deadly Sins.

I put online the entire blessing our family uses.

We love the Divine Mercy Chaplet. We don't always do it at 3, but it works well for my family. I have a CD where they sing it. It's so beautiful on its own, but even more beautiful to hear the sounds of 3 children in the back singing along.

Hi Jen! I hope you're dong well. Here is a prayer I pray with kids every day.

Prayer for Purity

Dearest Jesus! I know well that every perfect gift, and above all others that of chastity, depends upon the most powerful assistance of Thy Providence, and that without Thee a creature can do nothing. Therefore, I pray Thee to defend, with Thy grace, chastity and purity in my soul as well as in my body. And if I have ever received through my senses any impression that could stain my chastity and purity, do Thou, Who art the Supreme Lord of all my powers, take it from me, that I may with an immaculate heart advance in Thy love and service, offering myself chaste all the days of my life on the most pure altar of Thy Divinity. Amen. -St. Thomas Aquinas

I would like to add this one as soon as we memorize it.

Prayer for the unborn babies

“Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of the unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion.” - Prayer of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen
