Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Has anyone done this?

Could you tell me what the 14 books are that he uses as the narrative history of Israel?

I don't have the funds (or the time) to do the whole study, but I would like to read through the bible narrative on my own.

Sara,
I just started this a couple weeks ago. Here are the books:
Genesis, Exodus, Numbers, Joshua, Judges, 1 & 2 Samuel, 1 & 2 Kings, Ezra, Nehemiah, 1 Maccabees, Luke and Acts.

FYI, it is airing on EWTN and began 8/31.

Sara,
does your parish have a library? I just began this with my kids and I got the tapes from my parish library.

I am hoping to offer this through our parish for the weeks leading up to Holy Week (so, Lent - but we'll have to start before Lent). We'll actually "A Quick Journey through the Bible" which is the same concept but 8 weeks.

Looking over all the material, I very much like it - I've not had a chance to watch the DVDs yet, but that is on the agenda for next week.

Definitely see if your parish has it. We are borrowing a set from our deanery's resource center (another place to look - or if the diocese has a resource library) - when we go to actually do it, we'll purchase the participant's book for each adult, but we'll borrow the DVDs and leader's guide from the resource center. If it's a hit and more people want to do it next year, we'll look at buying it.
