Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I recently heard Mary referred to like this:

Daughter of the Father
Mother of the Son
Spouse of the Holy Spirit

Does anyone know the source of this?

Thanks!

I heard this several years ago, but can't recall the source... I know it was during lectures at Ave Maria College - I'll see if I can find my class notes as I'm unpacking some of my books on Monday and Tuesday.

I don't recall ever hearing this exact phras before either. I just came across it in Seton's Art 5 for Young Catholics. It's on page 91. Doesn't discuss it though just uses the phrase:

"The positioning of the subjects in this work of art beautifully shows the perfection of the Blessed Virgin and how she it exalted above all creatures: She is daughter of the Father, the mother of the Son, and the spouse of the Holy Spirit."

I googled it as well and it is used a lot. Couldn't find out where/who actually summarized the doctine in these words though.
