Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I just wanted to share a wonderful experience we had on Friday night. We have been in the habit of praying a decade of the rosary with our kids nightly. we began this about 5 years ago when our oldest was 4 and the next 3 and the twins were babies (they didn't make it most nights at first!) We are very simple and do one decade a night just working our way through the mysteries. Sometimes we use a guidebook, sometimes we just announce the mystery. Frequently, we use this website Children's Scriptual Rosary.

It has not always been easy. There are many nights where it is such a struggle to get through one little decade! I cannot count how many times I have lost my temper or had endless distractions. However, we keep on doing it.

On Friday the mystery was the last sorrowful mystery and we were using the scriptual rosary website that we have been through hundreds of times. As we were praying I noticed my oldest son sounded choked up. He sounded to be crying! At the end his brother asked if he was ok and he said, "Yeah, but it is just when you really think about it, I mean they tortured and killed him! And His Mother didn't even know what was next! He didn't even do anything wrong!" My sweet baby was really, really touched and blessed with a true sorrow over the Passion.

I am so humbled by this. We have prayed this same mystery so many times and by the grace of God, I was able to witness my son at a very special moment in his journey of faith. Afterwards I hugged him and told him he had experienced a special closeness with Our Lord. I know this has made a lasting impression on his heart.

So moms, please give the Rosary a try at home. I am not a devout Rosary pray-er myself (outside of this time with my family) and I still struggle with distraction etc. There have been other fruits we have recieved, but this Friday really sticks out to me and I felt compelled to share it with some other moms.

Thank you God, for the gift of the Rosary devotion!

I have grown to love the rosary through the nightly decade. It works so perfectly for our family. We say the beginning prayers on Sunday, a decade M-F and then the cosing prayers on Saturday. Thank you for sharing the website and your son's journey. I will have to check it out.

Beautiful, Tracy, thank you for the encouragement. I've been toying with the idea of doing a decade before grace at dinner but was feeling discouraged. I think I will add it to the menu.

What a beautiful experience of your son's to witness! We work so hard, as faithful parents, to help our children build their own special love and closeness to our Lord. I can only imagine, as a parent seeing this with your son, the leap of joy your heart took, the step forward it is in his journey of faith, and the memory you both have of it forever.
   Thanks for sharing!

That is beautiful, Tracy, and inspires me to keep trying despite the distractions and interruptions. Thank you for sharing that gem!
