Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Boy, pentecost came so fast!

Our home altar/ atrium and the wall are going to look awfully empty!

Do you have any ideas for Ordinary time to make it less "ordinary"

Or are you all colapsing from this whirl wind holy season!

I just looked at our liturgical calendar and though things slow down some, there are still lots of feasts to celebrate. Next Sunday (May 18) is Pope John Paul II's birthday and we will be reading the book Cay suggests in The Catholic Mosaic and doing the discussion questions and activities listed there.

We're looking forward to a little bit slower pace.

I don't think things really slow down, liturgically, until June. Three more Solemnities: Trinity Sunday next week, Corpus Christi Sunday the 25th and the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the 30th!

We've started a Sunday Sundae tradition around here that I think we'll continue for these solemnities...it started with Ascension Sundaes (heavenly hash ice cream, crushed oreos--heaven and earth--a whipped cream cloud and a golden oreo Son) and then Pentecost Sundaes (sponge cakes--we need to absorb the Spirit, vanilla ice cream, strawberries--look like tongues of fire, whipped cream clouds, and a Dove chocolate). So I'm going to come up with sundaes for these next few weeks...any ideas welcomed.

Colleen, what a delicious idea!

Trinity Sunday - Neopolitian ice cream over tri-colored cakes (midway through this post of Alice's. What are they? They're beautiful!) or Angel food cake, three different colored sprinkles...

I need to think on the other two, all I'm coming up with is cherries and strawberries for red, except that I've seen premium sorbets made from wine that would be a different take for Corpus Christi.

Jen--I was thinking neopolitan ice cream too (3 in 1), and then was tryng to come up with a symbol of each Father, Son and Spirit...I don't think anyone would be opposed to revisiting Dove chocolates . Maybe if we did strawberry sauce, whipped cream, and a chocolate, it would be the three parts of the ice cream separated out...

Corpus Christi...this is a little tricky, I don't want to reach so far with the symbols that it seems irreverent. I was thinking that our store sells little containers of Dippin Dots. I could go down the whole path of it not looking like ice cream but being ice cream....

Still thinking about the Sacred Heart.
