Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I know I am a bit late, or extremely early ......but eventually we will want to have this thread!

A picture book recommendation:

The Baker's Dozen: A Colonial American Tale retold by Heather Forst and Illustrated by Susan Gaber

Great artwork......good story!

Chari,

Thanks for this. I'm learning that I need to try to plan ahead for the Liturgical Year and other events in my family if I can...because there always seem to be unexpected surprises closer to the date! This looks great!

Very true, Jenn. If I don't plan, the date is upon me and it is too late to do anything fun.

The Miracle of St. Nicholas by Gloria Whelan is one of our favorite books of all time. If you haven't read it yet, you will love it.

Well, this isn't a book, but we do a lot from stnicholascenter.org. They have a series of six stories to be read on the 1st through the 6th that tell of his life. There is also a fun echo story that my kiddos look forward to each year. They have lots of crafts and recipes, too. We do the Blessing of the Candy Canes on the 6th along with a special meal. Each year we add something new. That first week of December has got to be my favorite week of the year!
