Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Well we're thinking of snow anyway. I know many of you are staying inside because of illness and snow and it looks like I have a lot of free days next week that I sure don't want to spend outdoors (it was 105 here yesterday but at least it's a dry heat ).

Soooooo, I am thinking of having the kids make a few homemade Christmas gifts and my mind's a blank. These would be for Dad, Grandparents, cousins and elderly friends.

Links to pictures are good . I also have time to put books on hold. I know it would be in bad liturgical form to have a Christmas celebration but how about Christmas Carols for St. Anne and Joachim's feast on Tue?

What fun! What kind of crafts do you prefer? Simple art ones, needlecraft, painting, clay, wax?

With St. Anne and the idea of motherhood, lots of baby projects and preparations come into mind, but other gift projects, I have a few ideas off the top of my head:

How about any of the Illuminated Ink projects?

Knot-String rosaries? We've been making decade and 5 decade rosaries with string from this site. A priest friend Father Mosimann taught us how. There are directions on this site, too.

Making scrapbooks, photo albums, decorated frames for pictures.

Anyone do calligraphy? Write up in fancy writing favorite poems or prayers and frame.

How about those cookie molds from House on the Hill or other molds to make wax, paper or plaster mold prints to paint, hang, etc.?

Martha Stewart has several Christmas decoration ideas. Using old Christmas cards to make ornaments is fun and useful. Glitter projects...glass balls and decorate, wooden ornaments, cinnamon ornaments.

How about rubber stamping and make Christmas cards at this time?

Jesse Tree and/or O Antiphon trees and ornaments to give to people? Handmade evergreen (i.e. fake) Advent Wreaths?

Okay, I'll stop. I wish I was over at your house. I'm just packing up here!

We're definitely not into needlework. But paper, wood, clay, salt dough and wax are all good ideas. I like to make functional gifts for the older folks. We've made Rosary hangers, car litter bags, rain gauges, birdhouses, bookends, and candle holders. Usually something jumps out at me about 1 week before Christmas and we work madly on it for the next 6 days

Oh, if I can find the link, how about using Sculpey to make a Nativity set? I think Elizabeth or MacBeth sent that link on CCM.

Thanks so much Jenn. The Sculpey instructions are very helpful even if we don't make the Nativity. Your link above for the Illuminated Ink took me to the House on the Hill site. Would you mind trying again?

Sorry about that! I've fixed above, but here again Illuminated Ink.
