Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We are looking at purchasing a lap harp for the kids for Xmas. They are the inexpensive kind where one can slide a music sheet underneath the strings and then follow the notes to play the song.

Has anyone purchased one of these? What kind did you get? Did you like it?

Thanks

We bought one for dd for her birthday. She LOVES it, even though at age 5 she cannot follow the music charts yet. The only problem is it doesn't stay tuned well for long. We are getting a tuner to help us keep it tuned as I am pretty much tone deaf!
The one we got is First Act Discovery brand which we got at Walmart for under 20 bucks I think.

Thanks Theresa

I was looking at ordering the one at Rainbow Resources. It does get to be pricey so I wanted to see if anyone had actually tried one before.

Hi Nicole,
we haven't used it yet, as it is a ..shhhh.... Christmas gift. I ordered it from Magic Cabin a couple of weeks ago, and got a great discount on it. It was a "special time only" discount I got on my email from them. I am guessing Rainbow Resource Center would offer it for less.

I have checked it out, and the only thing I need to do before Christmas is tune it. It sounds really neat! I remember using one back in early elementary years. I am hoping the boys enjoy it as much as I did!

God Bless,
Stacy in MI

We've had one for years. Ours is the "melody harp" by Trophy Music. Some of the strings are out of tune as we have lost the tuner (it is such a small thing!!) -- one of the first things we got when we started homeschooling. The kids love it and will still play it from time to time. I was just looking at more sheets this morning, maybe for Epiphany gifts.

I picked one up for $2 at a yard sale this summer as a Christmas gift for Isabella that almost went undetected till today! I was going to buy melody cards from Hearthsong, who has the harp, but I wasn's sure it they'd fit the harp.
Anyway, Isabella has the talent to 'pick out' the songs she knows by ear on the organ, maybe this will encourage her to do it on the lap harp.

You might want to keep watching eBay!   Those come up often.
