Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

A little late here. . .

We'll study Ralph Vaughan Williams.

One piece I love is "Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis." You could also get that Tallis piece and compare--see if you can hear the theme.

If you've ever seen "Master and Commander" its the piece that plays while Warley (is that his name?) falls off the mast and floats away . I just love it!

Some other pieces are recommended on this site: RV Williams

But as always, obtain what you can. . .

Oooh, I love Ralph Vaughan Williams. We had a record by Morton Gould Orchestra that has his Fantasia on Greensleeves, Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis and English Folk Song Suite. I would listen to this over and over. In fact, my mother is loaning the record to me and I'm listening to it right now.

Thanks - I'll have to look for recordings at my local library...
