Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

It's easy, messy, fast and fun. What more can you ask of a craft for kids?

This is a craft that a dear friend showed us a couple of years ago. She came over a couple of weeks ago and we had so much fun with shaving cream that I thought I'd share the fun here.

Before beginning, cut out shapes from white paper. We made tree and star cutouts. For fall we've done maple and oak leaves. Then spread a layer of shaving cream on a wipe-able surface. Pick 2 or 3 colors of food coloring and place 2 or 3 drops of each on the shaving cream:

Take a wide toothed comb or fork and scrape it back and forth through the food coloring in order to mix and spread the colors:

Lay your paper cutouts face down on the shaving cream making sure the entire surface of the cutout is in contact with the cream:

Peal the paper up:

Carefully sweep a squeegee across the paper to remove the shaving cream. The paper will be almost dry and will look tye-dyed:

We strung ours up as a garland:

The boys enjoy this craft. We've colored large rectangles that they turned into birthday cards for friends. They've cutout circles and rectangles and have then written their names in sharpie on the paper before "dying." It produces a neat effect. I think paper Easter eggs would be fun to make.

Our homeschool coop did this a few weeks ago with kids age 1-8 and it was a big hit. We did it outside and it WAS messy on clothing but the kids really enjoyed their results. I never thought to cut out shapes first though, we just did piece of card stock.

We did a variation of this earlier this year but I like your version much better. Thanks for sharing!
