Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

A friend just shared a great resource with me, and I thought I'd pass on the tip.

The National Gallery of Art has a lending library of art teaching materials, available at National Gallery of Art Loan Material Finder.

The only charge involved is return postage via Media Mail. You can order a hard copy of their catalog by email or snail mail, and/or consult their online catalog. From the blurb at their website:

The National Gallery of Art’s Division of Education provides slide teaching programs, multimedia programs, videocassettes, CD ROMs, DVDs and videodiscs to millions of viewers each year. These programs are intended to foster awareness of the visual arts and make Gallery collections accessible to a broad audience beyond the Gallery's walls. They are circulated free of charge to educational institutions, community groups, and individuals throughout the United States.

Our Loan Programs meet national standards in the visual arts for kindergarten through grade 12. A variety of artists, subjects, techniques, and styles are examined. Many programs contain suggestions for related activities and questions designed to stimulate discussion of the art and artists, of cultural and historical issues.

My friend said she's used their resources about 12 times over the past few years; only once has she received the requested resource on her second-choice date rather than her first-choice date.

I'm looking forward to trying this out!

We did this last year and got some great art films -- their one about Audubon fit in so nicely with our bird study; we also got others. We asked for a film strip by accident, so couldn't use that one, but you'll love this resource.

They're also very nice about extending deadlines and answering questions.

Very cool resource
