Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Our family would like to sing together, but I don’t play the piano well enough to accompany us.
Do you have suggestions for song books with CDs? I found Seton and Our lady of Victory.
Can you recommend either of these or do you have a suggestion that has worked at your house?

Thank you!!

We use this to sing together, the Cd only plays the first verse of every song though. We learned the Salve Regina this way.

Adoremus Hymnal

Are you looking for children's songs, Catholic songs, classical vocals (arias, cantatas...), popular music or Broadway hits? Music Minus One (example in link is their Christmas collection) has some popular and classical arrangements, with a few for vocals, though most of their products are for orchestral solos. The accompaniment is usually full orchestration (but I see you are an "Orchdork", so that might be fine?)

We sing a good deal of music unaccompanied but in harmony here using the Lester Family CDs.

Oooh! Thanks for that link, MacBeth!I was able to find some oboe accompaniment for dd. She is getting close to needing some audition recordings made for college apps, and I think these will com in handy.

I’m looking for catholic.
I like the look of the Lester CD’s. Thank you very much for the link.
Do you have a favorite CD from them?

We used the “minus one voice” type of music for Advent and Christmas and it is working, but I haven't found that kind of thing for traditional Catholic music.

I just want it all ya, know?

Thank you for your assistance!

I like the Traditional Rounds and Carols, The Christmas Harmonies, and the Homestyle Harmony. I don't have the Hymn CD. The Lester Family is not Catholic, so their hymns do not include those you would find in the Adoremus set, but I don't think there is any problem with they hymns they include.

The kids use them all the time here. It gives them that much more practice...
Good luck to your dd. Oboe is lovely instrument.
