Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am new to these forums so I hope this is of interest to some. I bought this CD titled Songs in French for Children, a while ago and we just started listening to it. Why did I buy it? It was winter and I was drinking French Roast coffee and eating chocolates and I wanted music to fit my mood.

This CD has great reviews on Amazon and is CHEAP too! Only $6.97. The CD was first released in 1956 and although neither my children nor I know any french we all enjoy these lively songs. I think the singer is quite clear, so for those learning french it might be useful.

Several of the songs will sound familiar: #4 L'alouette, #12 La ferme de Zephirin (Old Mac Donald), #14 Picotin musicien (La Cucaracha, or the Mexican hat dance?), #18 Le grand mechant loup (Who's afraid of the big bad wolf).

We are also doing a sort of unit study for the summer with the Treasure Box series and this goes along with the St. Therese stories...as well as the french roast!

Thanks, Lisa for mentioning this. I had a cassette with most of these songs, but the tape was ripped out a few years ago, and I've wantedto replace it,but never got around to looking into it. Now I don't have to!

Hi Suzanne,
The CD jacket just has the cover picture and the songs listed in back with time duration...But, I found this interesting website and checked for two songs at random (dansons la capucine, sur le pont d'Avignon) and they are both there. Hope that helps.

This brings back memories of high school French class. I clearly remember learning "Alouette" and "Sur le Pont d'Avignon". In fact, I've been known to break into one of those songs out of the blue around here at times.
