Just a little reminder if anyone is interested...
This is the time of year to save your corn husks if your going to make corn husk dolls. A great step by step guide is in Karen Andreola's book, "A Charlotte Mason Companion". We were shucking corn this evening to freeze for the winter and I remembered how fun this craft was! We have quite a bundle drying out for a September craft day. 
Is this the right forum for this?

To dry the corn husks, I just set them on a cookie sheet and place them on top of the fridge or in the warming area of my wood cookstove. Since I have to wet them anyway I don't flatten them. Do they work better if you do? Is there a better way to dry them?
A short cut to the drying process is to glean in a corn field after the harvest depending on where you live.
We love this project and have made little clothes for our dolls. They never last though, as they get played with until they fall apart. I'm going to take pictures this year so at least I'll have the memory for my photo album.

I have a collection of great links for corn husk dolls. I have not used them yet (keep forgetting about them!)so thanks for the reminder! I had planned on getting a bushel of corn at the farmer's market to put up soon and will be sure to save some husks this time!

Wow! Thanks for the reminder! We haven't even eaten corn yet this season! And we're doing The Prairie Primer, so we're supposed to make corn COB dolls. I thought maybe we'll make corn husk dolls instead??? They probably made them back then, right?

I've been getting corn on the cob for $1.50 a dozen from the Amish!! We eat what we can, save the husks, then freeze the rest for when corn is $2.50 for four tasteless cobs. Cold sweet corn is SO good this time of year. The children will eat it without butter and without being cooked.

Thank you, Theresa. I just printed out our instructions to use for our first week of school. We had corn on the cob last night for dinner, so we'd have dried corn husks to use for our project.
