Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We watched this movie this weekend. It was wonderful! It is based on the true story of the Lippizaner Stallions from the Spanish Riding School in Vienna during WWII. It was well done - full of culture, history and beauty juxtaposed with the misery of the war.

I had never heard of it before, but it popped up in my recommendations on Netflix. We're so glad we gave it a try.

This is one of our FAVORITE movies, Diana! Of course, if you knew my dd you'd know why! My mil has a Lipizzan mare that was given to her because her spots never disappeared (all Lippizans have spots, but most lose them as they age - Contess never lost her spots. ) She's a dear!

Miracle of the White Stallions - Netflix

This is actually an old Disney film, one of their classics! Such a great history in this breed and they are such beautiful dressage horses! If you ever get a chance to see the World Famous Lippizaner Stallions performing it is so worth it!!!

The Disney movies is based very loosely on the Marguerite Henry book, The White Stallion of Lipizza which is a GREAT read-aloud ...

Interesting side note: our youngest was born while we were in Austria and for his 1st bday (when we were back in the states) we gave him a wooden rocking horse and named it Zaner!

I've had this in my Netflix queue for awhile now (it keeps moving down the list as I add something and make it go to the top) - I think it's about 3rd in line now so I'll definitely make sure we get it soon.

I absolutely LOVE, LOVE this movie! As someone who used to ride and train in dressage before our family grew, I was absolutely thrilled to find it and own it now on both dvd and vhs. Can anyone tell me if they have been able to find the musical score to the movie, and/or the names of the actual pieces that make up the score? I have been searching what seems like forever for this information online, and always come up empty handed.

Thanks in advance!
