Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

When do you begin planning for a new school year? I usually use tax money to purchase the next years supplies and this is the time I usually think about the next year. I have been thinking about it a lot lately. We have been doing a trial of unschooling/very relaxed schooling, but I think we will end up as relaxed CM. I love to plan some things and found a loose schedule works better for me and certain children. So is anyone else thinking about next year?

I'm already starting to plan. Winter has been dark, snowy, and cold; planning has brightened my days.

My cost spreadsheet is set up and I'm narrowing down my ideas for each subject. I've taken the time to read up on CM and browse the AO and MA sites to get some curriculum ideas. Now, I need to sit on it for a few weeks and then see if it all makes sense.

I LOVE planning! The tough part is implementing!

I am.

Right now!

I can't believe it - we have just finished our 3rd term today! Wahoo!!! We take a week off for a break in between terms so next week is our spring break! I'll be looking toward the next academic year starting next week, mapping out some big picture planning and getting some ideas down on paper so I can begin narrowing and focusing my planning over the next couple of months. My goal next week is to identify any BIG purchases that might be needed for the next year, like a printer. Like you, Lisa, these bigger purchases usually come out of some money set aside for school purchases after the tax returns come in.

God willing, I'm usually done with a pretty good plan as well as a purchasing plan for the next year in April sometime. We'll be done with our year right after Easter and then break for a month or so and plan to begin again in early July.

That sounds wonderful! It's fantastic when we ease into something that works and fits us as a family, isn't it?!

Hey - I'll trade planning prayers with you, Lisa and Lara! May the Holy Spirit grant us clarity and wisdom so we can plan joyfully and with all diligence in the way that best suits our individual families.

Enjoy the beginning of planning for that next year! So much cheerful potential wrapped up in the thought of a new year! (or that might be just me! )

I'm planning now too.    I think it really helps me get through the long winter days. I enjoy thinking of "new beginnings". I usually don't order anything until after our homeschool conference in June, but I start now and try to have it all figured out by then. I love planning for the new year!

Me too!
It's a good time to think not only about *next* year, but also about how you can shake things up for the rest of *this* year and finish with a bang (rather than a whimper).

My ds and I spent some time this week thinking about how we want to finish up this year, and also where we want to head for next year. Really energized us and put us both in a great frame of mind.

I started some of the planning for the new year months ago. : ) Most of what we have been doing this past year has worked really well for us, so we will continue on the same path.

We have placed our "big" orders for the year two weeks ago. I finally bought the geography cabinet I have wanted for the past 6 months or so. I debated where to purchase for awhile and finally decided to go with one from Kid Advance. My husband has wanted to start teaching our eldest about geology so we also purchased rock, mineral, crystal and gem sets from Wards. He is looking forward to going rock hunting again. : )

I still need to draw up a detailed list of some of the books we will need. From there I will decide what we can borrow from the library and what will need to be purchased.

I have already started to plan. I am having a blast strangely. I can't organize actual supplies since we will be moving before the start of the school year and our arrangements will be changing though
