Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

There are some changes in store here at the Rabbit Trails Forum. And we wanted to give you a heads up on what to expect. Since the beginning of the 4 Real Boards, this forum has been a place to share ideas for unit studies or "rabbit trails" - those side trips in our studies that take us to finding out more about a topic of interest. For some it might be an organized and planned study and for others it's the spontaneous journey of interest driven learning on all the tangents of a topic. It's one of my favorite ways to learn with the kids. Angie and I have always enjoyed this topic and sharing here as well as being moderators here.

We have found in looking at the activity on the board that this forum is extremely low volume, especially in the past years. Many members do share information on unit studies or rabbit trials but often do so in the particular topic area - for example "Abraham Lincoln" in Across Time and Space or "weather study" in Exploring God's Creation in Nature & Science. It fits in those areas topically very well and makes hands-on learning come alive in those topics. Other members might not be sure of what this forum is about or don't do unit studies.

For these reasons and in order to make room to add a desired "Planning and Organization" forum it has been decided that the Rabbit Trails topics will merge into the specific topic areas after Easter. Unit Studies (Rabbit Trails) are just one of the many ways of living out our learning and we hope to reinvigorate discussions within the Living Education subject areas with unit study discussion. So we encourage you to continue sharing great unit studies and rabbit trails here at 4 Real.

Just post your unit study topics or questions in the specific subject area. If it is a post about planning or organizing a unit study, then the new Planning/Organizing forum will be the place to put that. If it is a general unit study/rabbit trails or lapbooking question it probably would go in Living Learning. If in doubt, post in Living Learning and we'll move it if it best fits somewhere else.

We're looking forward to renewed emphasis on rabbit trails and unit studies within the subject forums as an example of the hands-on and living books approach this board is known for.

Come join us on the trail.....

As I've been moving threads around to the subject area locations, I'm revisiting some great old threads and bumping some. If you've never really looked at the rabbit trail/unit study topics, take a look. Lots of great ideas and suggestions.
