3 part cards which I see as a type of flash card, study cardy? Anyhoo...
Help me out here, please. How do you get the most out of your 3 part cards? How do you use them? How often? Do you purchase them, make your own? Laminate  ? How do you organize and store them? Tell ALL! At Susana's blog, I found 3 part cards, laminating, organization, and storage.
I have my 3 part cards - clouds printed and waiting to be laminated, used, and stored...

I use 3 part cards a lot. Some people don't like them, but we enjoy using them. I use them as some people use a text as a spine for a topic of study.
The 3 period lesson is helpful for understanding how best to present the cards.
I definitely laminate!!! After a few times of being handled corners become tattered and cards get creased without laminating. You might want to only laminate one or two sets to see if your kids enjoy using the 3 part cards, but if they do, you'll definitely want to laminate all of them before you use them.
I set ours out on a shelf in napkin holders (like this) using library pockets - I use 4 library pockets per set - one for the control card (picture and image), one for the image card, one for the vocabulary card, and one for the definition card. You can label each of these pockets with your label maker if you like. Office supply stores offer those acrylic holder thingys that could also hold a set of 3 part cards.
I LOVE the link you shared from Montessori Candy!!! That's a great way to store them and contain them. Right now, I use the large orangey-brown envelopes that you can purchase a large box of at Costco and store my sets in these envelopes. I label the top right corner with a sharpie (top line - subject matter...botany, zoology, geology...next line - specific name of cards...parts of a flower) and stand them all up in a bin and group them according to subject. When I see that we're about to study something new - astronomy, botany, clouds , whatever, I go through my 3 part cards and introduce a new set.
I usually ask the kids to go through the cards daily - they're self-correcting so the kids don't need me to be there except for the first few presentations. When they feel they've mastered them I sit with them and watch and then quiz them a bit with the definitions.
Now, as to where I get mine...my favorite source is Montessori For Everyone because Lori takes such time ensuring that her information is scientifically accurate and the cards/images are always so lovely. However, I do have a number of card files (on my computer...not yet printed) from a great free source - Montessori Materials
This is an awesome idea!!! Thank you for sharing it...I may have to give my storage system some thought!

Now that I have bought a laminator  I will be making and using cards like this a lot. I used the Flower Fairy cards for decorating our learning room when we did the Alphabet Path last year. This year I am using a lot of animals, people and places cards in our continent study. I've been printing them myself on card stock, and I'm sure they'll last longer with lamination.

Oh, Paula....that's such a good point and I didn't mention that...print on a good cardstock! It will make all the difference in terms of durability and use-ability!
