Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

This article is in the most recent edition of Horn Book magazine. The Horn Book is one of the major publications for teachers and librarians. This Sept/Oct issue is a special issue on school. The author is a former elementary school librarian and twenty year homeschooler.

Thanks Kate! I loved this article, but in particular, this was my favorite part at the end:

.” Homeschool is where education and home become inextricably entwined, where you really can’t tell where one begins and the other ends. Books in a homeschool are sort of like that, too. They become a part of your education but also part of your family."

Wow! That's SO TRUE and SO cool!
