I am looking for ideas/programs to use for scripture memorization with my 8yob.

A verse at a time from this list makes for very nice copywork.
Some other scripture ideas: There are 31 Proverbs. Reading one Proverb each day for a month, or over several months is something our family does. (some are long, so sometimes we just read a third - the next month a the 2nd third, etc..). When there is a verse you wish to have memorized by your little ones, copy it and place it in a prominent place to be reflected upon at a glance.
Other copywork ideas I have used:
The 10 commandments
The Beatitudes
Spiritual and Corporal works of Mercy
The Fruits of the Spirit
Another nice way to fill your children's hearts with scripture is with music.
Catholic Heritage Curricula has a nice selection of music that has scripture woven through out.

My favorite is the Catholic books of the bible song on Sing Bible Prayer Songs.
Also, not Catholic, but nothing I have found to be wary of in them either, is Steve Green's Hide 'em In Your Heart cd's.

Nicole, my favorite way to learn scripture is in song. Handel's Messiah is all scripture, for instance, and since I am partial to sacred music, it works for me  .
I remember Kimberly Hahn talking about how great it is to have scripture memorized for those times when you are working, let's say, doing dishes or gardening, and you can't be reading the bible...you can review memorized scripture as you work. I thought abuot this with amusement the other day when I was in the garden, and several verses of scripture came to me in song.

My sister puts it up on the bathroom walls. She says then they are a captive audience!!!
Not trying to be crude...just it works for them!!

a la father Frank Gilbreth in the book Cheaper By the Dozen!
We do one verse every 2 weeks for the letter of the alphabet we are studying and we usually pick something to do with behavior or a virtue we are trying to work on. Even though the just-turned 4yo is the only one learning his alphabet letters right now, we are all benefitting from his memorization. Until adulthood I never memorized any scripture, but this is so easy I can even remember this week's letter B verse is "Be kind to one another." Ephesians 4:32

The alphabet idea is terrific. We are going to use that around here for sure.

I read 2 ideas in Karyn Henley's 100 Ways to Teach your Child about God.
Write the scriptures on index cards or post it notes. You can even draw them as pictures if your children do not read. Place them all over the house. When it the verse is memorized begin again with a new scripture verse.
Again, write out or draw a scripture but leave it under your child's pillow or on top of the pillow. You chose the verse for the specific child. You could do it daily, weekly, etc. Choose scriptures that are simple, meaningful, and understandable for your child.

Has anyone used computer "games" to help with scipture memorization? Something that would give them repetition and be a little fun?

I knew there was a thread on this ! Here's a CM method to Scripture Memory System from the Simply Charlotte Mason Site.
Some Suggested verses.
This isn't a Catholic site, though, so you might need a different translation of the Bible.

Sonlight sells scriptures set to music in their lower levels. You might want to skip a few that are commonly used to bash Catholics, but if you have kids who like to learn to music, its helpful.
My dd is memorizing the scriptures associated with CHC's 3rd grade speller. Very Catholic choices.
