Hi gals, my hubby started having some pain in his lower left abdomen yesterday afternoon, but refused to be taken to the emergency room last night (typical ).   He's off work today and seeing the doctor first thing, but I'd appreciate a little prayer if you could, please, that it's nothing serious. I suspected a hernia first time this happened a couple of months ago (when he also refused to see a doctor and was fine after a couple of hours). He's my angel, but this behavior (true of most men I've met) is so infuriating, not to mention nerve-wracking!!!

Thanks in advance!

Stef,
I am praying. In our house it is just the opposite, my husband has to make me go to the doctor. He is far more comfortable going to the doctor. I always thought maybe it was because his mom is a nurse.

Guys are infuriating, aren't they? The one time my husband had a cast/brace thing he ripped all the velcro off it to bind the sail to the boom.

Praying!

Stef,
Praying for your husband, that it is nothing serious and he finds some relief from his pain.

Thank you so much for the prayers, ladies. Hubby saw the doctor and it is indeed a hernia. So he's seeing another doctor right now, and hopefully they'll schedule the surgery if not today within the next couple of days. Recovery is a week and I don't know how long he'll have to stay in the hospital -- hopefully not too long. Thank you again for praying. It really helps my peace of mind -- and you must know how helpful that is! I'm not even nervous or apprehensive. And of course that helps the hubby and children too. Your prayers are much appreciated by everyone here. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Will post another update when we find out the date/time for surgery. Thanks again.

Praying!

Make sure he receives an annointing, it really helps with recovery.

My son had a hernia repair (with an annointing) and he was fine the next day and swimming within a week, I kid you not. He has almost no scar, just a very pale straight flat line, almost invisible.

The year before my dh had a hernia repair (without an annointing) and he took weeks to recover. He was in bed for 3 weeks and off work for 6. He has a huge ugly scar too.

I had carpel tunnel surgery (without an annointing) and I ended up with a lot of bleeding, needing general anesthesia half-way through, and being in the hospital 4 times longer than expected.

I don't believe in co-incidence only God-incidence.

Anyway, I always recommend trying to get an annointing before any type of surgical procedure.

Blessings,
Krisann

You know our family is praying for yours, stef. I'm so glad you are at peace...at least you know what you are dealing with which for me, is easier than dealing with the unknown.

Now...if you figure out how to break that physically related "It's no big deal. I'll deal with it later." phenomena...please write a book. It will make the top of the best-selling charts. You will become rich and famous. And I will have a rich and famous friend. Oh...and it might help my dh get ME to the dr. sooner than later .

Love,

Praying for your dh, Stef. My dh went through hernia surgery in July. It took him MUCH longer to fully recover than he'd expected, especially since he didn't want to change habits of picking up littles/etc! Just make sure your dh slows down.

Thanks, Krisann. We had him anointed yesterday. Surgery is tomorrow at 9. He went in today for lab work. So far so good!

Thanks everyone for your prayers and cyber-hugs!

Thanks for making me smile, Angie. LOL. It should be a group effort really, since so many of us wives have hubbies like this. It *is* such a guy thing, isn't it?

Sigh, Janette. That's exactly it. My "macho" hubby has so often in the past refused to listen to me when it comes to lifting heavy objects, including kids. His reasoning always has been, one day they won't want to be carried anymore. And I have to shut my mouth because I agree. Imagine carrying a sleeping 45-pounder all through Mass!

It's that hero instinct -- wanting to do everything for me and the kids even though I've reminded time and again, "our bodies do have limitations, you know." He's also got a dislocated shoulder that pops out every now and then -- one time he dropped our 2 year old onto the (carpeted) floor because it suddenly popped. But he still won't stop carrying the kids. I love this trait of his with all my heart but it drives me nuts too.

I'll be praying Stef (it also seems you can never let them go see the doc by themselves because you will never find out exactly what he/she said ).

Hubby's out of surgery, everyone!!! Doctor was very nice and thorough with instructions/explanations to me and Alfredo is doing well. Just a bit nauseous so they don't want him to go just yet, so I went home to see to the kids and I'm going back in a bit. The nurses were first rate, kind and gentle. And the kids who were left at home behaved themselves, did lessons, didn't fight, etc., etc. Alfredo should be home by 3 or 4 at the latest.

Thank you so much for your prayers. I asked Alfredo this morning driving to the hospital if he was feeling at all nervous, and he said, no, we've done what we've needed to do, we've got tons of people praying for us and we'll be fine. Which is exactly how I feel. Thank you all!!!

Five days before he can go back to driving, and 4 weeks or so for total recovery. Will update then. Hugs and big thanks to all of you prayer warriors, your prayers really help.
