Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Here is something else I've been working on this week:

Acts of love/ penance for lent

I couldn't think of an appropriate name for this craft. If you have any ideas, please let me know, and i'll change the name.

Ruth - I love it!! I think I will do that next year. This year we have purple beans and a cup. Each time they do a good deed they get a bean in their cup. At the end of the week we glue the beans to a large cross made out of poster board. These represent how we help Jesus carry His cross with our good deeds.

I like yours because the penances are already written out and they can add them to the cross with velcro - very cool.

thanks for sharing this with us!!!

Play with a younger sibling

Share a favorite toy or game without complaining

watch a younger sibling for your mother without being asked

Help a younger sibling with school work

Do your school work without comlaining or procrastinating

These are all I can think of right now. I am interested to see if others have any suggestions . I think you did a great job with the ones you already thought of.

Very nice! How about
Copy a prayer (or Bible verse) in your best handwriting read it aloud at dinner
Write a letter to a grandparent (or Godparent)
Say a Hail Mary and ask Our Lady's protection for a soldier
Pray for the unborn
Put fresh flowers (or greenery) at the feet of a religious statue

This is great, I'm going to make one today! Because of my recent surgery I feel bad that I have not prepared the dc for lent at all. It is sooooo hard when mom is out of commission to do these things, but this is doable! thanks for sharing
