Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm ready to re-visit this book, and it was mentioned in another thread to do a study together. I think this is a splendid idea! Who's up for it? I don't even know where/how to begin a book study, but I'm willing to try!

Dear Lisa,

I just posted a reply regarding this to Nina's Spiritual reading--comforting, inspiring thread. I would like to study this with you.

Blessings,

I'm not sure how to do a discussion either. I think we should post some time frame for reading a chapter and then discuss.

I just started reading last night, and I have a question already I want to discuss..

Unsure of the logistics of a discussion, but I would love to participate. I've had this book for a number of years and started it more than once. It just seems like every time I try to read it, something comes up and takes away the quiet space in my day that I was trying to use for this book!

Hoping that sharing with others will keep me moving through

Peace,
Nancy

Okay, great! So, should we begin discussing chapter 1 now? Maybe we could just keep this thread going, or start a new one and discuss it freely?

I have had this on my nightstand for ages. I am going to try and read Chapter 1 today - and follow the discussions.

How about setting a date to have the first chapter complete for discussion? That would give anyone who doesn't have the book time to get ahold of a copy to join the discussions.

Just a thought.

I just posted on the other thread...but I'm up for a discussion. Michaela has a good idea for those who want to get the book. I have it, but I need some time to get the first chapter read. Thanks everyone - Lisa - for picking up the ball and running with it!
God bless,
Angela

What about if we start the first Monday in February? Maybe that would give people time to get the book if they don't have it. The chapters are long so I am not sure how it would work. Maybe we can post a thread for each chapter and post on that thread for a couple of weeks. The book is not difficult reading but it is packed with wisdom!

Natalia, the first Monday in Feb. sounds great, and your idea for a thread a chapter sounds perfect. I will delve back into it tonight!

Count me in! I was just looking at this book, on my desk, and thinking it would be nice to go through it again, someday. Maybe God is talking to me?

God Bless,

Oh, I love that book. I purchased it after reading this article by Elizabeth Foss several years ago: Not-So-Ordinary Time.

This is a great idea, Lisa! I'm not sure I have time to be an active participant in the discussion, but I can't wait to read it!

I'd like to participate. I have the book, but cannot seem to get started. Perhaps a study will motivate me. I will begin (again) tonight!

Would love to do this with you guys! We read the book a few years ago (me and dd) but I really need to reread it! Great idea and perfect way to start Feb!

I've had this book for a while too and have read only a bit. I will follow along although, like Alice, I don't know how active I will be.

Love this book! I have older copies; the newer ones are edited (there's a statement to that effect on one of the first pages of the book -- maybe the ISBN/copyright page?). I first read the newer copy, but bought the older one. The older one is WOW. Love it more than the in-print edition.

I would love to participate in a discussion of it, but I've got so much on my "reading plate" right now -- much of it, I am simply skimming. But, the concepts in this book have stuck with me so.

Has anyone noticed similarities between this book and Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People? At times it seemed like nearly the same words were used. Perhaps the similarities I noticed were only to be found in the older edition?

Like Alice and KC, I will read this discusion with keen interest. Not sure how well I'll do, but I will do my best to contribute, too....

Hoping this study will motivate me to get reading
