This was a great article to be greeted by in yesterday's paper. It is a very positive portrayal of an inspiring Catholic family with 11 children who wait until after Mass on Christmas day to open presents. It always amazes me when Catholics receive good press like this!

Wow. That was a great article, and from the "Post." What a great surprise.

Thanks for sharing it. I'll have to pass it around.

God bless.

Rita and I spent lots of time together when our big boys were little, before we moved "west." She always talked about how she loved to be pregnant, loved to have babies, loved birth. Some of you might remember that when Nicole was dying she asked me what to tell her children, how to help them cope. Rita's mother died of breast cancer when she was a child. It was Rita's experience that I passed onto Nicole and that I've encouraged in my own children ever since my cancer experience. She said to encourage your children to know the Blessed Mother as their own mother. She will always, always be there to console and encourage even when we mortal mothers are limited. Rita is also the one who introduced me St. Josemarie Escriva. It is so nice to see the Post do something entirely positive!

Elizabeth,
Is she or was she ever a homeschooler? I couldn't tell from the article.

when I knew her, she was homeschooling. I think she might still homeschool the little ones. I know that the big boys eventually went to school. Funny thing is, someone came up to me at Midnight Mass who had just been at Rita's house. They were on my mind all Christmas Eve and I'd been thinking to call her. Then Linda called me and read me the article!

Irene, that was lovely reading indeed!

Elizabeth, so true! So timely for me to read it - I feel a very 'limited mother' at present and I will remind me children today of this consoling truth.
