Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We are having our children's Christmas party on January 2nd this year, which in the Pre-VatII calendar is the Feast of the Most Holy Name of Jesus. (I think in the modern calendar it is on January 3rd so this question applies for basically everyone .)

I'm looking for children's activity ideas to do at this party having to do with the Most Holy Name of Jesus.

Father has asked that I handle the party so I was thinking it would be great to take advantage of the day and talk about the Most Holy Name of Jesus with the children. I've recently read Fr. O'Sullivan's little book about the Most Holy Name (the one from Tan). Also, I've briefly checked out some web sites.

So far, I'm planning on bringing card stock papers divided up into business card sizes with the Most Holy Name on them. I'll let the children cut them out with those fancy cutting sissors, color them and encourage them to put them under their pillows, on their doors and in their Mommy's purse and Daddy's wallet etc. This might be enough. (We have a good solid couple of hours for the party and the age group goes from the littlest to about 14 yrs old.)

What else might be fun/cool to do for this feast day?

Hi Amie! First let me say I love your idea and thank you for the book suggestion!

I know this craft project is too late for your Christmas party, but thought I would mention it anyway. I just put up a post at my blog: A Little Craft for the January Devotion. We made it late on the day of the feast, but I thought it would make a nice school room decoration for the month of January.

We made monogram cupcakes yesterday as a follow-up treat/lesson.

I just came accross this book at Church yesterday. Boy! It's so powerful. I'm going to read it to our children. Thanks for introducing us to it.

The party sounds like it will be a lot of fun.

God bless.

BTW, Dawn, I love your crafts. They look great!
