Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I was asked to give a talk to children about prayer after receiving Holy Communion and I don't want to limit it to my own experiences. My books are providing no real ideas either. Our children have learned through example and light suggestions in the pew, but that is not going to help these children with roving eyes. Any ideas?

Magnifikids has one in each of their issues. I can post a few of their suggestions if you need ideas.

I was going to suggest Magnifikid as well. My 11 yo uses it each week.

I just shared at my Women of Grace meeting last night that my 2nd grade teacher, Sr. Anell taught us a prayer that I've said after every Communion since. (They asked me to type it up and I had already forgotten )

I taught it to my 2nd grade classes and it's still being taught there. Of course now I have the opportunity to share it with my children. It has been a lovely connectin of prayer with so many people.

Anyhoo...here is what we say.

Dear Jesus, I believe that You are now present in my heart. I adore You. I love You. I thank you for all these gifts, especially for the gift of yourself in the Holy Eucharist. I promise to receive You as often as I can. Stay close to me, Dear Jesus, today and all the days of my life. Help me to be a good child. I want to be with you in Heaven. Amen.

Blessings ~

OOPS! I really thought I proofread, but when I looked at it this morning I realized I had typed "I promise to be a good child." That's quite a promise! I corrected the wording above.

Thanks. I'm planning to print this out the size of a holy card and have a bunch of them laminated with a before Communion prayer on the other side. For those who haven't made their first Communion yet I have taken laminated holy cards and strung them together on a key chain. The littles know they too have to pray while Jesus is on the altar.
