Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Victoria,

This has been on my mind 24/7 lately as my dd, 7, is receving her First Holy Communion this Sunday, as is her best friend...

I decided to do a gift basket full of goodies for them--with books, a few sacramentals, and a first communion doll to commemorate this special event in their lives.

Some of the books I'll be including are:

Today, I Made my First Communion

The Weight of a Mass

If Jesus Came to my House

I also bought a few little trinkets at the local Catholic bookstore, an inexpensive Rosary, a medal of the girls' patron saint that I will string on a pretty ribbon, etc...I also have some newly reissued coloring books from Neumann Press that I am including with a little box of crayons...I know this is more girly and you are thinking of your nephew but hope these ideas get you jump started...

I just gave the Magnifikid subscriptions to both my niece and nephew for their First Communions. I think it will be neat - if it ever arrives!

Hey Victoria!

How's it going?

We're purchasing:

The Weight of a Mass,
The Squire and the Scroll &
The Princess and the Kiss.

Now, here's the kicker....we're also going to include a rocket kit....

I know it seems a little unorthodox but the little boy we're buying for doesn't get many things like that and also....we can tie it into orthodoxy by comparing how quickly our hearts soar to Jesus in the Eucharist...or how quickly our souls soar to heaven.....

Have I been banished?

Love,

Not at all--quite creative! And he is sure to love it. Have not heard of Squire & Scroll. Thank you!

Thank you to all for these wonderful suggestions so far. Please keep the ideas coming!
