Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Anyone know or lived in Turkey - Ankara, specifically?

My 18 yo niece, Sarah, is interested in doing study abroad there and we need some info; particularly if there are any Catholics there or the possibility of going to Mass? Any priests anyone knows, etc?

Thanks for all info ...

Hi Mary, I just thought I'd mention I believe this blogger lives in Turkey. I don't think she is Catholic, though I believe she is a Christian.

Scroll down this page for an address of a Jesuit church in Ankara and it looks like there might be a contact email address.

HTH! I'll ask around to see if I can find more info. We've visited northeastern turkey, and i went to Istanbul 12 years ago, but I've never been to Ankara. After being in Georgia, Turkey - even the rural parts - seems so modern and, funnily enough, westernized. Then you hear the call to prayer and realize where you are!!!

Blessings and thanks again.

An update for you:

dear niece seems to have decided against going to Turkey -- thank goodness!

but Dawn, I heard from the woman in Ankara and she was very candid and "I wouldn't send a young, single American woman here" so that added to my SIL's arsenal of reasons not to go.

Thanks y'all for helping us out with this.
