Thanks folks -- these are great pictures. I'm starting FHC notebooks with two of mine and my nephew tomorrow - feast of St. Francis -- and thought a coloring page would be particularly useful!

Sounds wonderful! Amazon has a few inexpensive copies right now.
What I'm struggling with is finding a good book with wonderful pictures and not too wordy or deep for a younger child on St. Francis. Few have fit the bill for younger children...and sometimes the text isn't so enjoyable for an adult, either. Brother Wolf of Gubbio is one that does fit the bill...love the pictures, not too scary, and the text he could follow along well.
I have some others I'll check out from the library tomorrow that might be better. Both of our personal favorites is the book illustrated by Elizabeth Orton Jones "Song of the Sun". It's just so beautiful, so reverent, captures the fall nature, too. OOP

Have you seen this one: The Song of Francis and the Animals -- I just picked it up from our library and it is really a beautiful book. It's illustrated with woodcuts and has a very Catholic feel (some of them are almost new agey). The text is not heavy and may be just what your little guy needs, Jenn.

No, but it's waiting for me at the library. MaryM talked highly about it last year...she loves the woodcuts (and frankly, so do I). Looking forward to seeing it.

I had to buy this as soon as Margot suggested it, as she has such great taste.  But I was at my library and saw it sitting on the shelves and she's right...it's just gorgeous! Watercolor, gouache and collage pictures so brilliant and beautiful.

Not a book, but a great hands-on craft for St. Francis and other saints. Are you ready for this one...Boo boo Cookies??? One of my very creative friends came up with this idea to explain the stigmata to her smaller set. They found cookie cutters of hands and feet, and put red hots on them to show the idea of a wound (hence, "boo boo" cookies) They made these for the feast of St. Francis!

We watched this last night and it is really good --definitely a great addition to a St. Francis celebration with lots of scenes of Assisi and Rome and a great story of faith.
