Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Didn't know if I should start a new thread but I didn't want to clutter up the one with the stages so here it is.

While reading the book French Revolutions which Katie recommended I came across a reference to a cyclist namedGino Bartali who won 2 tours in 1938 and 1948 and attributed his success to the Blessed Virgin.   He had a reputation as a very pious and devout Catholic.   I went on to a longer article giving more of his biographical details and was very interested to find out thathe worked in the Italian resistance in World War II , helping to smuggle Jews out of the country through the Catholic escape network there. It’s possible that his first win and the fact that he was a famous cyclist kept the fascists and Nazis from arresting him. Bartali had a famous rivalry with Italian racer Fausto Coppi.
