Hello everyone,

I have a quick question for you. My two year old son has a cut on the bridge of his nose near the eye. It is not healing because it is right where he rubs with his index finger when sucking his thumb. He rubs any band-aid right off. I am not sure how to help this cut heal. I am afraid to put much on it since it is so near the eye and most products warn about not getting near the eye. He rubs that spot as well as in his eye as he sucks his thumb so I'm afraid any medication will get in the eye. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Christine

what about superglue? I know you're worried so close to his eye.. have someone help hold him and put the glue on a piece of paper or something and then use a toothpick to apply it so that you only have a tiny bit near his eye at any time. That will hold a cut shut.. it's the same stuff they'd use in the hospital if they glued a cut shut.

Also I really like the Country Comfort Baby Cream for all types of cuts, scrapes, rashes.. and I wouldn't worry about it being near the eye (you can get it on Amazon).

We had this exact problem last year with our 2 year old. It would just get healed, and she would pick it or rub it open again while sucking her thumb, even when healed all the way over. The cream Jodie spoke of looks good. I used the St. Rita's Healing Salve from Nazareth Farms, it helped a lot and is natural, so fine near the eyes. I think I'm going to have to get some of the Country Comfort Baby Cream, looks great!

Also, sneak in when he's asleep and put on whatever salve or cream you choose...it might rub off during the night but at least it will be on there for a few hours.

Thanks for the tips! My husband wants to try the super glue, but I am a bit nervous about it. I will try the creams or salves mentioned first. I tried to put a bandaid with cream on it after he was asleep last night, but he reached up and took it right off then handed it to me...all while remaining asleep What a kid!
If you think of anything else, just let me know. I'm all ears...

Thanks again,
Christine

Actually I just remembered, we had this with two of our thumb suckers. It took about six months for it to heal with each of them, I think, which was frustrating, but it did finally heal.
