Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My Amish neighbor has been trying to have a baby for 3 years. She finally conceived but lost it at 2 mths. I am buying her Fertility Cycles and Nutrition. I am wondering if anyone has any good links or books that discuss progesterone therapy to sustain a pregnancy. Apparenty she was taking it when she conceived, but stopped when she got pregnant.
Thank you!

Caroline at The Modest Mom just has gone through a similar thing and now has been using progesterone in her current pregnancy. She has several very interesting and informative posts that might be helpful:

If you're on progesterone (and we're not talking about the herbals like wild yam) then you should be staying on it until the placenta is able to take over.. it's like around 2 months I think.

But anyway I do have a friend who needs extra progesterone to sustain pregnancy and she has a doc that will prescribe it. But a lot of them act like it's no big deal and won't actually do anything to help a pregnancy, some to the point of refusing to prescribe it.

I was on progesterone with two of my pregnancies. It isn't something to take lightly and I was monitored closely for the first three months of those pregnancies. I know for one of them I got frequent blood tests to make sure my levels were in the right place to sustain the pregnancy.I don't remember if for the other one the tests were as often but I had experienced two miscarriages before that one so they were being extra careful. It had to be tapered off correctly to make sure the pregnancy continued successfully. I did have low progesterone levels which were verified.
