Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I drop dd off at the local high school for SAT this morning. AND THE SCHOOL IS HOSTING A HUGE DRUMLINE COMPETITION AT THE SAME TIME KIDS ARE TAKING THE SAT!!! On one side of the building there are at least 4 different drum lines practicing AT THE SAME TIME. While on the other side of the building whatever drumlins is up next is playing. THIS AT THE EXACT SAME TIME AS SAT! I've already sent emails to the principal of the school and testing coordinator. I will wait to hear from dd how distracting this was - if so, I will complain to college board!

Is it me - but why on earth would they schedule this drum line competition the same time and day as SAT! THIS IS YET ANOTHER GOOD REASON TO HOMESCHOOL. Schools are run by idiots!

Wow - thanks - that felt better to vent

Oh, no! Barbara- that is truly crummy. Let's hope the students are in an area that is quiet. Praying for them now!

I think you should tell the College Board. I'm a musician; I never, ever would have been able to concentrate on the SAT under those conditions because my mind would have been following the drum rhythms.

I'm sorry your daughter and all the other students had to deal with this today.

That's too bad :(
Their is a policy that if the student is disturbed by the noise, he can have his text cancelled and retake it without charge or penalty. We went through this with our son, who sat through a test under a similar situation. It has to be cancelled before the grade is received.

Do what guitarnan said. Call and write a formal complaint both to college board and to the school board. Absolutely ridiculous. The proctors should have immediately dealt with this as well. And no, asking the students if they mind is NOT dealing with it. I'd be ticked too.
