Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone have plans for Saint John Paul II's feast day coming up in three weeks?

We're thinking of having a get-together with some homeschooling friends and I need ideas for the crowd.

Charades would be fun - as it is an "acting" game and would emphasize JPII's association with acting.

Or a nature walk, since he loved the outdoors (weather permitting, of course!).

Soccer was a game he played so would be a good group game.

Found some sites with typical Polish children's games - would be fun to do.
Polish Kids Games
Playground Games for Polish Children
Three Polish Games to Play with Children

Also for a craft idea I would go with something with the image of OL of Czestochowa. Some ideas include (just change to OL of Czestochowa):
Rosary Hanger
Candle Holder
Kitchen Madonna
Sculpey Ornaments
Altoid box shrine

We had a great JPII party today. On the schedule -

*I printed coloring books for the little kids from Holy Heroes

*I bought Dollar Tree jar candles and printed holy cards and we Mod Podged them on making a devotion candle similar to these.

*We played "Pope Pictionary". I made the clues, and we played parents vs. kids. Lots of fun, but I didn't realize the tween/teen set had never played Pictionary before and needed to know the rules of the game.

*We spent the last 30 minutes watching the animated JPII 30-minute movie from EWTN.

*I made Polish sausage and Papal Cake for some of the refreshments.

I had hoped to include some outdoor Polish kids' games, but the weather didn't cooperate.
